Free pattern: Easy crocheted poinsettia flowers

Still some time left to Christmas. And you always have time to crochet small decorations for the Christmas tree. Or why not use them as wrapping decoration?

You need:
-red or white cotton yarn
-crochet hook (I used size 3,5mm but use what is appropriate for the yarn you use)
-scissors
-needle

Picot: The picot stitch is basically a chain of 3 where you sl st in the first ch of the 3chain. Here is a tutorial with pictures on how to make a picot.

ch6 join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring
Round 1: ch2, in the ring 2hdc, ch1 [3hdc, ch1] repeat 3 more times. Join with sl st in second ch in the beginning of the round. Don't turn. Sl st 2 and sl st in the hole between the 3hds groups.
Round 2: ch2, 2hdc in the same space as the last sl st from last round, ch2, 3hdc in the same space [in next space 3hdc, ch2, 3hdc in the same space] repeat 3 more times. Sl st 2 and sl st in the hole in between the 3hdc groups (pointy part of the poinsettia)
Round 3: ch3, 2dc, picot, 3dc in the same space, sc 1 in next space [ in next space, 3dc, picot, 3dc in the same space, sc 1 in next space] repeat three more times. End with a sl st.

Weave in ends and attach a ribbon or a piece of yarn to hang your poinsettia from.

Christmas cards

I wasn't going to make any Christmas cards this year. But changed my mind. Bought materials last weekend and made a few simple cards. It is always so much more fun to give  and receive handmade cards instead of store bought cards. Here is what I made. I punched holes with a needle to make the ribbons. Otherwise the papers are just glued on to the card. Simple and fast.

I hope you have a great Saturday. I'm home alone and sick. Lonely but cozy. Will be watching a movie and knit. So it could be better! Hope to be on feet again for Christmas.

I'm getting married

I've never been that girl who dreams about getting married and having a wedding. But it happened. I'm getting married in July 2013. We have chosen the place for the venue, the food and the priest. That's about it. Those are important things of course. I'm and indecisive person. I guess that is the problem. Pinterest is a great place for inspiration also when it comes to weddings. I know that we want it quite simple, affordable and I want to do things my self. Like decoration and table setting. Was going to sew the dress myself too but my sewing skills aren't on that level yet.

I think I want a quite simple dress. But what if I regret not having a huge wedding gown? I guess I'll have to go try dresses on and see what I like.

December is here!

Just 23 days until Christmas! Are you prepared? I have bought all Christmas gifts already. Everything either handmade or bought on Etsy. It feels so much better to give handmade and/or locally made things. Not store bought mass produced stuff.

Anyways. Last year I made an advent calendar on my old blog. Haven't had that much time this year... It's in Swedish but full of Christmas inspiration. Check it out here.

The winner is....

The lucky winner that will receive a Christmas gift from me is....
nr 34 Zyzanna!
Due to the fact that many left just one comment I made a list so that every entry from each person got a number. Will probably make it easier for me next time and try out the rafflecopter.

We did a autumn photo shoot a while ago. Probably a couple of months ago. Have had so much to do this autumn that I haven't really been able too keep track of time.

Now all those gorgeous autumn colors are gone. And it's just gray and dark all the time.

Weekend glimpses

It's been a gray and gloomy weekend. Perfect for cozying on the sofa, crocheting and watching a movie. So I did, accompanied by a glass of red and honey roasted nuts. Here are a few glimpses from my weekend.
Hope you had a great one too!

Yep it is a snake

Zyzanna was right in the last post. It is a snake. A fun, cute, soft and colorful snake. He looks a bit crazy but he is kind, I promise. I even went out of my comfort zone (no safety eyes!) to make him suitable for children. No parts that can come of, fun colors and crazy eyes.

I hope you have a great weekend! Here it is so dark, so gray and so rainy. Waiting for that snow to come back!

Work in progress: colorful

Using up some colorful cotton scrap yarns. They tend to accumulate if not used...

Any guesses what this is?

Most of the yarn here is Rico creative cotton that I ordered from the UK a couple of years ago. The yarn is nice and chunky and quite cheap. It took two months for me to get the yarn though! So not ordering from the same place again. Not naming any names either. Kind of crappy customer service to be honest...

Woot woot!

It's been a while since I made any owls. The ones I've made earlier have all flown away to new homes so it was about time.

This is Odessa the owl. She lives high up in a birch. She is a sleepy little owl. Loves white chocolate and taking naps. Made from fabric scraps and vintage buttons. Up for adoption here.

Have a wonderful Saturday!
It's a foggy November morning here today. Let's hope we get some sun because I have planned a photo shoot today.
